Human trafficking is modern day slavery.

FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Human Trafficking was made illegal until the year 2000 when the Trafficking Victims Protection Act was made a federal crime.
  • Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world, generating over 1000 billion dollars annually worldwide.
  • The top three nations of origin for human trafficking is US, Mexico, and Philippians. (US is the capitol)
  • Americans are #1 for making, buying, and selling child pornography (child rape).
  • Every 40 seconds a child is sold through human trafficking.
  • In the United States, children of color are 4x more likely to be targets of human trafficking than white children.
  • 10 million children are currently being held as sex slaves.
  • A trafficked child is raped on average 10-50 times per day.
  • Less than 1% of victims are rescued.
